Reflections:
The concept of Web Mapping is another revelation in media literacies.
Historically, my internet searches consisted of typing words into Google or the library database, and hitting enter.
My exercise involved an evaluation of “Feline Reactions to Bearded Men >Research that makes people LAUGH and then THINK” at http://www.improbable.com/airchives/classical/cat/cat.html.
I performed a search of the website at www.altavista.com to find external links.
I repeat my searches of this website on http://www.Excite.com and http://www.Hotbot.comand the results from Excite were similar, if not exact to those of AltaVista, but HotBot searched slowly and produced zero results.
When I performed an easywhoisit search of this website at http://www.easywhois.com/index.php, improbable.com, which produced no record.
This entire exercise has been enlightening. I will remember these investigative activities when I do my own academic searches and curriculum creation. Now that I am aware of problems and solutions for internet searches, I will stringently verify internet searches, and be sure that my curriculum does not include hate-filled or pornographic content.
